Global Kids Sewing Party 2026: 7,500 Kids Sewing Around the World

The Global Kids Sewing Party is an annual event that encourages children to learn hand sewing while creating softies to gift to others.

The 8th annual Global Kids Sewing Party is over for another year—and what a year it was.

Almost 7,500 children from 25 countries, including Zimbabwe, Romania, Croatia and the Czech Republic, as well as Australia, the US and the UK, joined in to sew a softie to gift to someone in their community.

The Global Kids Sewing Party must be one of the biggest kids’ sewing events in the world.

If you missed out this year, you can already register to join the Global Kids Sewing Party in March, 2027.

What Kids Made

It was so exciting to see so many zenki softies being sewn around the world…from Square Cat to the Love Bugs and Kandinsky inspired softies!

There were also sweet collaborations, with older kids sewing softies based on drawings by their younger buddies. And of course many children learnt how to sew for the very first time.

What Educators and Families Said

Here’s what educators, parents and communities had to say about the Global Kids Sewing Party 2026:

Terri Hokianga, New Zealand – Classroom Teacher

My class, a year 5 and 6 class from Wainui Beach School in New Zealand, all made a softie and gifted it to our 5 year old buddies.

We also interviewed our buddies and then wrote a story based on them and their softie. On Thursday, our last day of term, we gifted them to their buddies. It was really special.

Thank you for encouraging us to sew 🙂

I want to tell you that your softies have really been a hit. I wish the children had better small motor skills, but sadly this generation doesn’t do crafts or handwriting as much as older generations did. This is a fun way to develop those skills.

Emily, UKParent

Here is my daughter’s first attempt at a softie. She gave it to a friend for doing well in football, her sister has requested one, so she needs to get busy again!
