Sew a Softie in July

It’s that time of the year again. Sew a Softie in July.

I can’t believe what started out as a one day event is now a month of daily simple to sew softie tutorials.

With Summer camps in the US and many other countries around the world cancelled, Sew a Softie in July offers a great alternative for parents who want to get their kids learning a new skill without spending hours staring at a screen.

And once kids get the sewing bug …they won’t want to stop. Here’s a quick rundown of what will be happening!

So what is Sew a Softie in July?

It’s a month of daily simple to sew softie tutorials.  Also, kid ambassadors join in and teach a friend how to sew softie or host a Sew a Softie Party.

What’s the aim of Sew a Softie?

To get adults and kids learning to sew.

How do I join in?

Follow me on instagram or in the Sew a Softie facebook group where I’ll be posting links to the daily tutorials. Your kids can join in as kid ambassadors too!

What if I can’t sew?

The tutorials are made for newbies. Really simple, with step by step photos and/or a video to show you what to do.

You can have a look at my videos on how to sew basic stitches.

I still need help.

Great! Join the Sew a Softie facebook group and ask away.

What materials do I need?

Your basics will be fabric/felt, needle and thread, pins or sewing clips, stuffing and glue. Some projects might require ribbons or lace and a button.

And if you want, here is a  detailed description of helpful sewing supplies.

And when you’ve finished sewing your softie?

Head to instagram or facebook and post a pic of your softie and hashtag #sewasoftie. We have some amazing sponsors who are donating prizes to Sew a Softie in July participants.

Who are Sew a Softie’s sponsors?

Clover, Aurifil, Fairfield, De Witte Engel, Art Gallery Fabrics, Winterwood , Bostik Australia and Johnco. We are very proud to be associated with these lovely companies.
