Sew a Softie at another library

Three days after the Waverley library workshop I gave another Sew a Softie workshop at Ashfield library. This time I checked the numbers. Strangely the story seemed to be unfolding along familiar lines: a workshop of 15 had bourgeoned into 30 plus. This time I was prepared. I’d brought in Shira, my oldest daughter, who squeezed me in between her prep for next terms art classes (she’s a high school art teacher), I still had Yiscah who never let’s me down (even when there’s a good reason to) and we came with plenty of supplies. The workshop was an hour an a half but went for two hours and it was great to see how much the kids loved being able to sew and make their own softies. It’s a sight I see over and over and never get tired of. It always gives me a buzz.

Just this morning I received an email from one of the mums which pretty much sums up how well the Sew a Softie workshops go down: “Just wanted to let you know my 3 kids are still talking about how good (excellent was my 8 year old son’s words) your Sew a Softie class was yesterday…We LOVED LOVED LOVED your activity yesterday. I am going to ring Emma and Kathy at Ashfield Library today and ask you to come back next September school holidays”.

It was also really exciting for me to meet up with Simone who blogs at Play with Food and Shannon from Oh Creative Day, a long-time insta friend who I’d never met in person but always wanted to. Simone’s daughter Ellie joined in the softie workshop but Shannon’s three little one’s are still all under three…just a scratch too young to join in.

Here’s  a peek at how things went:
