Sew some quick felt Easter eggs
With Easter just around the corner I wanted to post a really quick Easter project.
This fillable felt Easter egg idea almost hopped into my mind. It seemed the perfect place for a little chocolate Easter bunny to hide in while the kids were on their Easter egg hunt. You only need to sew a simple running stitch and you’re done.
These little felt Easter eggs would also look great on your Easter table or hanging from an Easter tree.
Alicia’s students at her lunchtime sewing club decided to sew themselves felt Easter eggs and put little Easter riddles inside. This would make fun activity for a group of kids at an Easter party or lunch.
Some quick pointers:
I used 100% wool felt for these Easter eggs. I love working with wool felt. It’s soft and thick and just feels so nice. With my classes I use wool blend, although you can also buy really lovely soft acrylic felt.
I’m sewing with a chenille needle and ordinary sewing thread doubled over but you can choose to use embroidery thread, perle cotton or any thread you like. This post on what threads are best for teaching kids to use talks about the advantages and disadvantages of different threads.
Here’s the the template for my fillable Easter egg but you can enlarge the template if your chocolate or candy won’t fit in to this size Easter egg.

PIN FOR LATER
These are sooo cute and very easy to make. Buy your candy first to make your egg appropriate size.
I love watching sewing videos; esp. hand sewing. I think it’s the human aspect. I also like to see the same things happen that frustrate me—like the thread getting caught around a pin. These look easy and cute and I’m going to make them for Easter this year! Thanks.
